TRAINING TECHNOLOGY TEST KITCHEN FAQ

*****************************************************************************************************************************************************

HOW DOES THE TRAINING TEST KITCHEN WORK?
The Training Technology Test Kitchen will take place in the general session room over three days of the conference. The room will be filled with round tables where attendees will get hands-on with the latest elearning technologies and design techniques. There will be no competing sessions happening during the Test Kitchen hours. As a Test Kitchen facilitator, you will present your demo in repeated 10-minute sessions.

WHEN WILL THE TRAINING TEST KITCHEN BE OPEN?
The Training Test Kitchen will be open three times over the course of the conference (unopposed hours):

  • Monday, 4:00 – 6:00 pm, Conference Kickoff
The Training Test Kitchen will open with drinks and appetizers and the first round of elearning demonstrations where you’ll repeat your demo every 10 minutes, as participants capture tips and techniques as they move from table to table. (Note: At 5:30 pm the demos will end and we will bring out the popcorn for our Top Training Video Awards program.)

  • Tuesday, 7:45 – 8:45 am, Continental Breakfast

  • Wednesday, 7:45 – 8:45 am, Continental Breakfast

HOW MANY TIMES WILL I PRESENT MY DEMO IN THE TRAINING TEST KITCHEN?
Over the three days, you will repeat your demo approximately 15 times to a new group of participants as they move between tables.

WHAT CAN I BRING TO MY TRAINING TEST KITCHEN DEMO?
Please bring a fully-charged laptop for your demo and handout materials for attendees. There will be a charging station in the room, but there will not be power at each table.

If you will be using anything beyond a laptop for your demo, please let us know what technology you will bring. Space is limited so all materials beyond a laptop and simple handouts will need to be discussed with conference coordinators.  Please contact Melissa Moser at melissa@trainingmag.com to discuss. No banners or pop-up booths will be allowed.

IS WIFI AVAILABLE IN THE TRAINING TEST KITCHEN SPACE?
Yes, Wifi will be available in the general session room where the Training Test Kitchen demos will take place. However, we encourage you to prepare a simulation of any portion(s) of your presentation that require internet access as a live Internet connection cannot be guaranteed.

CAN I SUBMIT HANDOUTS FOR MY TRAINING TEST KITCHEN ROUNDTABLE PRIOR TO THE CONFERENCE FOR ONLINE AVAILABILITY?
Yes! Attendees appreciate copies of your reference materials. Please plan to bring 100-150 copies.

WHO WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE TRAINING TEST KITCHEN?
View the conference attendee profile here.

HOW WILL PARTICIPANTS KNOW ABOUT MY TRAINING TEST KITCHEN DEMO?
Each table will have a stand with a table number. Your demo title, your name/title/company, and your table number will be listed on the conference website, in the event directory, in a printed handout distributed at the door, and scrolling on the screen in the room. (Note: be sure your demo title is as descriptive as possible and showcases benefits of stopping by your table.)

WHAT OTHER DEMOS WILL BE SHOWCASED AT THE TRAINING TEST KITCHEN?
For a current list of demos, see the schedule online here.

WILL THE TRAINING TEST KITCHEN HAVE A LEAD FACILITATOR?
Yes, Phylise Banner, will guide participants through the Training Test Kitchen experience.

VENDOR DEMO SESSIONS FAQ (Gold and Silver Sponsors ONLY)
*****************************************************************************************************************************************************

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TRAINING TEST KITCHEN DEMO AND THE VENDOR DEMO SESSIONS?
In addition to the Training Test Kitchen Demos, Gold and Silver sponsors will receive two back-to-back, 25-minute demos which will take place in a breakout session room. There will be a maximum of eight (8) back-to-back consecutive demo sessions. These vendor demos are the only sessions occurring during the 10-11 AM Wednesday time slot.

Your 125-word demo description will be included on the Conference website, and the on-site event directory.

HOW DO I SUBMIT MY VENDOR DEMO SESSION DESCRIPTION?
Please send your session description ASAP to Melissa@training mag.com. Your session description will be posted in the agenda online (www.OnlineLearningConference.com) and will also be included in the printed onsite event guide.

Once received, we’ll make sure your description fits our requirements and will send a final version to you for approval, along with credentials to the online portal where you can upload your speaker’s bio and picture. The sooner we can get copy from you, the sooner we can begin promoting your session! Please send the following:

  • Speaker’s contact information: Name, Title, Organization, Postal Address, Phone, Email
  • A clear, concise session title and session description (combined length of 125 words): both your title and description should be descriptive and benefit-laden—what will your attendees learn/discover/examine/explore? How will they save time and money and increase organizational performance by utilizing your product or service? As you write your session copy, please keep in mind you will increase attendance if your session description and content is educational in nature with useful ‘take-away’ information.
WILL A/V AND WIFI BE AVAILABLE FOR MY VENDOR DEMO SESSION?
Yes, Wifi will be provided but we recommend preparing a simulation of any portion(s) of your presentation that require internet access as a live Internet connection cannot be guaranteed. You will also be provided with a lavalier microphone, data projector, and screen for your session. Please note that Online Learning 2018 does not provide computers or software for presentations. We recommend that you bring a laptop that you are familiar with and on which you have tested your presentation. If there are multiple presenters in your session, please load all presentations onto one laptop. If you need additional A/V, please contact Melissa@trainingmag.com for options and pricing.

CAN I SUBMIT HANDOUTS FOR MY VENDOR DEMO SESSIONS PRIOR TO THE CONFERENCE FOR ONLINE AVAILABILITY?
Yes! Attendees appreciate (and expect!) copies of your slides and other handout reference materials (such as job aids, references, etc.). Submitted speaker handouts will be available online to attendees before, during, and after the conference. Please email your handout (5 Meg max) to Melissa@TrainingMag.com prior to September 20th. If you wish to have paper handouts in your session, you may print/hand-carry handouts to the conference or have them shipped directly to the hotel. See shipping instructions below.
