Innovations in Training: A Curated Expedition into the Future of Learning at Work
Don't miss this post-conference experience – October 10 (pm) to 12 – at sites throughout Chicago, presented by Training magazine in partnership with Duke Corporate Education.
Learn how innovative training leaders are applying cutting-edge approaches to improve engagement in the digital enterprise. If you work in L&D and are seeking new ways to design and deploy training, don’t miss this immersive learning event.
With Chicago as your learning lab, you will imagine, experience and create a new future of learning for your organization. See how training is being innovated today with site visits to state-of-the-art centers, thought-leader presentations, Applied Innovation Workshops, and Debrief Dialogues. This exclusive experience is limited to 50 people; additional fee applies.
Our agenda is full – starting with a kickoff evening on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10, at The Connectory Chicago, including dinner, a reception, dialogue, and an introduction to Innovations in Training with our partner from Duke Corporate Education. The evening includes a tour of The Connectory's immersive Internet of Things (IoT) environment where we will get hands-on and make connections for how IoT can be adapted into learning contexts. Plus, we are joined by Swedish designer Erika Marthins whose Augmented Food project was recently featured in Wired magazine!
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11, starts with an Immersive Lab focused on virtual reality, featuring Samsung case studies and additional hands-on VR experiences with our partners.
“I flew down just for Innovations in Training! It’s very, very interactive. We had lots of fun. I felt like a kid on a field trip. We saw a lot of simulations and great work. We did a lot of collaboration. It was a very perfect space for learning. The small group was very helpful because we were all focused. I look forward to coming back soon!”
– Hima Jasti, Program Manager, eBay
Then, we'll find out how Accenture drives "durable learning" through innovation, with several examples from their learning team.
We move on to Northwestern Simulation lab to visit their medical school's Baby Delivery High Fidelity Simulation, Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery interactive skills session, the Innovations Laboratory, and the Virtual Reality Classroom and Surgical ORs. Socratic Arts joins us to engage you Story-Centered Simulations.
We end the day at Begyle Brewing Co. with a Debrief Dialogue to connect the dots from the day, followed by an exploration of the art of sensory knowledge transfer through an experiential, brewery-based evening and a pop-up dinner!
Columbia College Chicago hosts our closing day on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12. We begin with our third Immersive Lab focused on artificial intelligence and machine learning. Socratic Arts will demonstrate Auto Mentor – a new approach to mentoring using artificial intelligence. Then, it's your turn to be a data scientist! IDEO Chicago's data scientists/designers will lead us in The Hipster Classifier experience to help us better understand how classification algorithms work, what role our biases and intuition play in organizing data, and how a human-centered approach can improve our design of artificial intelligence solutions. Finally, our hosts from Columbia's Convergence Design Lab will showcase their innovative work in creating participatory learning experiences, and then lead us in a design thinking workshop to integrate the examples, technologies and processes we've experienced throughout Innovations in Training. They will guide us in prototyping a concrete solution that you can take back to your company and apply right away.
“Innovations in Training is unlike anything I’ve seen offered at a conference before. It was great to see real innovations already implemented at organizations – and gain ideas and insights to bring back to my team.”
– Lisa O'Donnell, Director of Instructional Design, KPMG
